The Brunei Book Fair 2023 organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, is featuring the Oman booth that displays literary and historic publications, a collection of multi-linguals and, intellectual, artistic, scientific and annual books and photos highlighting the civil and natural landmarks in Oman.
Ambassador of Oman to Brunei Darussalam Erma Said Mohamed Al Kathiry said the event serves as a testament to the commitment of Brunei Darussalam and Oman in fostering a love for reading, particularly among youth.
The event is a platform to instil the love of reading among young leaders, empower them with knowledge, broaden their horizons, and inspire them to contribute positively to our societies, she added.
Oman’s participation aims at strengthening cultural relations between the two countries by introducing various Omani publications and highlighting the cultural, historic, literacy heritage and achievements in various fields, the envoy said.
She said, “Our booth offers a collection of publications highlighting contributions by Omani scholars in various branches of knowledge. Additionally, visitors will find an array of leisure reading materials, delving into Oman’s rich history, geography, culture, tradition and literature.”
She also expressed appreciation to the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam for the invitation to participate in this year’s Brunei Book Fair.
The booth also includes cultural items, artefacts, movies, pictures, and portraits, the ambassador added.
The event themed ‘Mari Membaca’ (‘Let’s Read’) is held until August 14 at the Perpaduan Hall, International Convention Centre in Berakas. – Azlan Othman
