9,485 students to start Arabic, religious education

Schooling for Arabic and religious schools as well as Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) will begin tomorrow for 9,485 students.

Some 1,737 students are Years 7-9 students at Arabic schools, 7,957 students for Primary 5-6 at religious schools and 151 students in Years 8-9 at Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

This was said by Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman during a press conference yesterday.

The minister said Primary 5-6 religious school students will have five times a week face-to-face learning while those that cannot attend school will attend online classes or through home learning pack (HLP).

Years 7-9 of Arabic school students will have face-to-face learning four times a week (Monday to Thursday) and attend online classes on Saturday.

Years 5-6 of Arabic schools as well as religious pre-school and Primary 1-4 students at religious schools will undergo online learning or HLP.

Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin also said the first stage of Early Endemic Phase schooling session for Year 10 until Pre-University at Arabic schools and ITQSHHB that began on January 3 involved 2,158 students. It ran smoothly thanks to cooperation from school authorities, parents and guardians, he said.
