Brunei Darussalam yesterday recorded 791 new COVID-19 cases, with 656 derived from antigen rapid test (ART) results uploaded onto the BruHealth app and 135 from 787 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.
The national tally of confirmed cases now stands at 132,194, with one death not categorised as due to COVID-19 recorded yesterday.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar expressed condolences to the case’s family members. “May the family of the deceased be given patience and strength in seeing the case’s passing.”
The minister shared that there are nine cases in Category 4, and two in Category 5, making up for 4.2 per cent of the treatment capacity for severe cases at the National Isolation Centre.
A total of 1,377 cases recovered yesterday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 125,842. There are 6,149 active cases in the Sultanate, with 2.3 per cent bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide.
A total of 107 active cases are placed in isolation centres and hospitals, while 6,042 cases are undergoing home self-isolation.
As of March 27, 60.9 per cent of the total population had received three doses of the vaccine.
Minister of Education Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman also attended the press conference.
