68 bags of trash collected during beach clean-up

Some 68 bags of plastics, bottles and other rubbish weighing 434.5 kilogrammes were collected during a beach cleaning activity at Jerudong Beach, organised by the Baiduri Bank Group in collaboration with the Beach Bunch yesterday.

Fifty staff members of Baiduri Bank and volunteers joined the event aimed to raise awareness on the importance of recycling and keeping beaches clean.

The campaign was part of the bank’s Employee Wellness Initiative (EWI) which focuses on the wellness of its employees. The event also featured the bank’s graduate apprenticeship programme (GAP) participants.

“Our EWI acknowledges the importance of enhancing employee wellness by nurturing physical, mental and spiritual health of our employees.

“This event, beyond its ecological benefits, has also brought our employees together as a community to do our part for a cleaner environment,” said Baiduri Bank Head of Group Human Resources and Administration Veronica Chong.Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Compliance and Corporate Governance Manuel Bulens believed Baiduri Bank Group’s involvement in these initiatives sends a powerful message to the community that sustainable practices are integral to the bank’s values.

He added, “By actively participating in community events like this, I hope that we can inspire positive change and protect our environment for future generations.”
