48 projects shortlisted for CIPTA Awards

Forty-eight exceptional projects were shortlisted in the Crown Prince Creative, Innovative Product and Technological Advancement (CIPTA) Award 2023 competition comprising individuals from the public, students from various secondary schools and institutions, as well as from the ASEAN countries. The competition attracts a diverse range of participants who have passion for innovation and creativity.

The briefing was conducted in a hybrid format, with participants attending both in-person at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) and virtually via Zoom.

The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a multimedia presentation of CIPTA 2023.

CIPTA 2023 Co-Heads Pengiran Dr Rafidah binti Haji Petra and Dr Lim Pang Jen presented an explanation on the judging process, which is slated to take place from May 16 to 18 at UTB. The briefing provided guidelines for report writing, presentation, assessment process, and judging criteria for the final round assessment of the competition.

An open forum was also conducted, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and obtain clarifications on the competition.

It provided a platform for the participants to interact with the organisers and gain a deeper understanding of the competition’s expectations.

CIPTA Award 2023, the 10th edition of the biennial competition organised by UTB in partnership with the main sponsor, Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd (Brunei LNG).

The competition aims to inspire youth and the public to develop creative products, processes, or technology for national and ASEAN aspirations, and encourages participants to develop inventions and innovations that can positively impact society.

The general briefing provided participants with the necessary information and guidance to prepare for the final assessment round of the competition.

The session served as a reminder of the significance of innovation and creativity in driving sustainable development goals and the role of young minds in shaping the future.
