A ceremony was organised by the Ministry of Education (MoE), through the MSSSBD yesterday at the main hall of the new MoE building, where Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh handed over the national flag to the MSSSBD Chef de Mission and Director of the Department of Co-Curriculum Education at the MoE Julaihi bin Haji Mohamad/Mohamat.

Five sports events will be contested – athletics, swimming, badminton, pencak silat, and basketball.

Julaihi said, “The event is the highest platform in the region for the students to compete in the field of sports, in addition to providing an avenue for them to strengthen friendship and cooperation among one another,” he said.

He added that this year’s ASG will be the first held following the outbreak of COVID-19.

The last ASG was held in Semarang, Indonesia in 2019, where the Brunei contingent returned with a silver medal in pencak silat.  – Azlan Othman
