17 detained for gambling in KB

Seventeen individuals were detained on Sunday for their alleged involvement in ‘Pei Gow’ gambling activity during a surprise raid by police targeting a house in Jalan Maulana in Kuala Belait.

The suspects, comprising 13 permanent residents, two Bruneian citizens and two foreigners, were brought to the Panaga Police Station for further investigation under Section 6(1) Chapter 28 of the Common Gaming Houses Act.

The public is also urged to refrain from gambling as it is against the law to gain money through the activity. The Royal Brunei Police Force said it will continue to monitor any criminal activities while calling on the public to contribute by providing information to hotline 993 or any nearby police station. – James Kon
