Firefighters extinguished a fire in the engine compartment of a hatchback car in Kuala Belait on Thursday.
A Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) release stated the department on being informed about the fire at Jalan Kuala Balai, Kampong Mumong around 11pm, dispatched a team.
On arrival, the firefighters on discovering the fire, extinguished it with firefighting equipment. The cause and damages are under investigation. No injuries were reported. The eight firefighters from the Kuala Belait Fire Station were led by Acting DSO Ibrahim Bin Haji Suhaili.
The FRD advised the public to ensure that their vehicles are in good condition and to regularly check the wiring.
Vehicle owners must also ensure that modifications or additions to the electrical system of the engine, car accessories and wiring, should comply with safety standards, the FRD added.
