The Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) held a Zakat presentation for underprivileged individuals to ease their burdens ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
Fifty individuals from Brunei-Muara District received BND26,520 during a ceremony at Kampong Belimbing Mosque in Subok.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, as President of MUIB, handed over the zakat.
The donation was allocation from zakat fitrah and zakat harta collection for 1442 Hijrah that amounted to BND18,894,594,76.
A khatam Al-Quran for Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) officers and staff was also held.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the minister, followed by Tadabbur Al-Quran delivered by Religious Education Officer from Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) Haji Badaruddin bin Haji Basar.
It continued with khatam Al-Quran, Doa Khatam, Tahlil and Doa Arwah and concluded with Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Brunei Darussalam.
