Youth volunteers step up as preschool teaching assistants

The Ministry of Education’s Early Childhood Education Unit (UPAKK) held a certificate presentation ceremony to honour 110 ‘A’ and ‘O’ Level graduates who volunteered as preschool teaching assistants in government primary schools nationwide. The event, held at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex, celebrated the volunteers’ contributions to early childhood education and community service.

Director of Schools Inspectorate at the Ministry of Education Zainal Abidin bin Haji Kepli presented the certificates to the volunteers. In his speech, he emphasised the importance of volunteerism in shaping young minds and fostering community engagement.

The ceremony also included a video presentation showcasing the volunteer programme and featured testimonials from two volunteers: Amalviana Asyrani binti Tuah from Selangan Primary School and Nurhafizah binti Sisa from Mata-Mata Primary School.

The Preschool Teacher Assistant Volunteer Programme aims to instil a culture of volunteerism in youth, provide opportunities for community service, and expose young individuals to the field of early childhood education as a potential career path. – Fadley Faisal
