Some 26 students from Belait Arabic School spent yesterday morning participating in activities as part of Minda Youth Movement’s (MYM) student leadership programme.

The programme led by 14 MYM members, was held by the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) Library in Kampong Pandan, aimed at helping the students gain confidence and leadership to be school prefects and student heads.

The activities encouraged the students to solve problems using teamwork while also having fun.

The programme’s project leader Muhd Nourfaisal Babu bin Ismail said the programme was designed to be approachable to the students while incorporating outdoor activities that are interesting for the participants.

He said the participants would emerge from the programme as an inspiration for fellow students to follow. Other than games and activities, the programme also saw a talk on bullying including how to spot and stop it.

Participant Muhammad Fadhil Danial bin Fariz Surnaidi said the programme was fruitful and they learnt the importance of being proper leaders, and how to have leadership skills. He said, “As leaders, we must be understanding and act accordingly, to set an example for others to follow.”

Nurin ‘Alya Qaisara said the programme was motivational and advised fellow student leaders to be confident and not shy away from responsibilities.
