Youth entrepreneurs pitch business ideas

Izah Azahari

The Youth Development Centre (YDC) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) organised a YDC Lights On pitching session at the Jerudong Sports Complex yesterday.

The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah followed by comments from the jury panel and presentation of certificates to participants before concluding with a group photo session and an exhibition of the participants’ products.

The YDC Lights On programme was introduced in 2019 to encourage youth and community involvement in entrepreneurship while expanding the network of local entrepreneurs.

This year’s programme, co-organised with Shell LiveWIRE Brunei, ran from March 13 to May 30. It saw 11 participants receive certificates of completion and five business plans being presented to judges comprising government-linked companies and industry experts.

Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin was the guest of honour.
