    Youth empowerment through faith

The Da’ie Youth Volunteer Body and Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Youth Group, organisations under the Youth Religious Programme Secretariat of Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), held a programme in conjunction with the Israk Mikraj celebration.

Themed ‘Sembahyang Tiang Ugama’, the 18th Ilm Series and Awareness through Mosque Tours Workshop took place at PDI’s conference hall yesterday.

The programme was an initiative for the associations to strengthen their religious network and encourage a harmonious society through Islamic values.

The Ilm Series featured a religious talk on ‘Sahabat Masjid, Sahabat Dakwah dan Sahabat Ummat’ by Assistant Registrar at Arabic Language Faculty at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali Dr Muhammad Yadiy bin Haji Mat Yassin.

The talk touched on the history of responsibility of a Muslim to perform daily prayers as in the Israk and Mikraj event and connected to the approach of performing prayers at mosques, particularly for youth.

The programme proceeded with a workshop on awareness through mosque tours by Dakwah Development Division (Special Dakwah), PDI officer Edy Kasrin bin Haji Abdul Kadir as facilitator.

The workshop aimed to provide exposure to participants on ways to deliver the beauty of Islam to the public, particularly non-Muslim tourists as well as giving accurate information on Islam aside from getting up close to the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque and Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque affairs that will enable them to share with the public and tourists.

Meanwhile, the programme aimed to realise the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Strategic Planning 2020-2024 mission, which is ‘Strong and Effective Dakwah ‘through religious aqidah, faith, mind and appreciation particularly for young dakwah speakers.

At the same time, the functions of the Da’ie Youth and Asy-Syahadah Muallaf Group as a youth association are to encourage the Sultanate’s youth to provide ample space, always Istiqomah, visit mosques and contribute creative ideas as well as channel the youth energy to holding and engaging in beneficial activities. – Lyna Mohamad
