The election of The Brunei Photographic Society’s (PFNBD) highest committee is an initiative to support youth to be more active in contributing to the art of photography by allowing the exchange of information and ideas as well as experiences towards achieving Brunei Vision 2035 goal of having an educated, highly skilled and successful population.
This was said by PFNBD President Yusma Bahrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yusof in a speech during the association’s biannual appreciation ceremony on Sunday at Zyan Restaurant, Mangrove Paradise Resort to appreciate the services and contributions of its members.
The event also saw the winners of their Best Photographer of the Year Award for 2021 and 2022 announced.
Permanent Secretary (Youth) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, the guest of honour also launched PFNBD’s digital book, Lensa PFNBD.
The president also called on elected members to support the PFNBD’s advancement, especially in the creative fields, through activities to upskill its members.
Yusma Bahrin also commended the society’s cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and expressed hopes for the ministry’s continued support.
The event also saw a presentation of election letters to new PFNBD advisors Haji Hamidun bin Haji Mohd Noor and Haji Jinnidi bin Haji Mahali by the guest of honour, followed by the presentation of special awards to Murni bin Haji Mahali and Haji Rafieh bin Haji Momin.
Also seen during the event were the presentation of Diploma Brunei Photographic Society Award, Honorary Associateship of Brunei Photographic Society Awards and Honorary Fellowship of Brunei Photographic Society Awards.
