Youth artists show their colours

Awangku Muhammad Aqil Hannan bin Pengiran Kamarudin won first place in the digital art illustration category of the Digital and Traditional Art Illustration Youth Level Competition 2024 while Nurul Izzati Fathi’ah Nadhirah binti Ahmad Zaini was placed second followed by Mahirah Rusydinah binti Madani.

Meanwhile, Dayangku Rahimah Amani @ Dayangku Nabilah Rahmani binti Pengiran Abdul Rahman won first place in the traditional art category, followed by Nur Wardah Mansurah binti Abdullah Zulkiflee in second place and Mohammad Hanis Hibatullah bin Mohamad Hatta third.

Director of Youth and Sports Department Hajah Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abdul Karim presented prizes to the winners at the Youth Hub of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Sunday.

The competition, in conjunction with the 19th National Youth Day celebration themed ‘Future-Ready Youth’, was organised by six students undergoing work placement programmes at the Youth Division, Youth and Sports Department.

It aimed at developing youth’s talent in art and empowering their creativity through the use of modern technology and traditional mediums.

The competition attracted 17 participants aged 15 to 35.

Awangku Eddry Zalfrizullizam @ Awangku Fariz Roady bin Pengiran Saifulrizam, the chair of the competition, said, “The rapid development of technology, such as artificial intelligence, has changed the way of life. The competition’s theme is a clear message for the youth to be ready and equip themselves with technological skills, critical thinking and creativity in the face of challenges as they play a vital role in developing the country by adapting to increasingly dynamic changes.
