The Bruneian contingent, featuring seven officers and 12 players from Youngster Veteran FC, was crowned champions in the UKRC International Soccer 9s tournament.
The two-day tournament, held from September 7-8 at the UKRC football field in Ulu Klang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia saw the team excel in a competitive field against teams from across the region, which included UKRC, Koalas International, Kixx Veteran, Penampang Old Boys, Penang Sports Club, Malacca Club Veterans, Malaysian Grasshoppers, STG Veterans, and Bright and Bright Masters.
Dr Haji Kamaruddin bin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Talib, one of the club’s founders, led the team and expressed satisfaction with their performance.
He added that the team is committed to offering more opportunities for players to refine their skills, promote well-being and strengthen ties with regional teams. – Daniel Lim
