The Brunei Darussalam national under-23 (U-23) team will take part in an international friendly match against the Laos national U-23 team at the Laos National Stadium in Vientiane today.
The warm-up game will serve as their final preparation before they head off to the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Under-23 Championship in Thailand.
The Young Wasps had a training session at their base close to their accommodation and attended a team meeting upon settling down in Laos.
Brunei Darussalam U-23 Head Coach Atsushi Hanita and Team Captain Nazhan Zulkifle also took responsibilities of handling media duties during a press conference.
Meanwhile, the Laos U-23 team was represented by their Head Coach Guglielmo Arena.
The Brunei U-23 team have been drawn in Group ‘A’ alongside hosts Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar.
They will play their first match against Cambodia in a repeat of last year’s opening game at the Rayong Province Stadium on August 17 before meeting host nation Thailand two days later.
Atsushi’s young charges will conclude their group stage against Myanmar on August 21.
The country last participated in the competition last year losing all three of their group matches. – Fadhil Yunus
