Brunei Darussalam young taekwondo exponents bagged a flurry of medals during the 12th Open Labuan Invitation Taekwondo Championship 2023 at the Labuan Corporation Multi-Purpose Hall in Labuan, Malaysia recently.
The junior exponents won eight gold, two silver and two bronze in the kyorugi (sparring) event and 12 gold and five silver in the poomsae (pattern) events as well as two gold in the special events.
Twenty-two participants from the age of seven to 19 took part in the regional meet including 12 in kyorugi; 17 in poomsae; and two in special events (speed kicking).
The contingent was led by two officials from the Brunei Darussalam Taekwondo Association (BDTA) Committee, Sarifuddin Rahim as the Team Manager/Coach and Tan Chia Chun as Assistant Manager/Coach.
