A pair of young Bruneian lawyers representing the Brunei Darussalam Law Society went into the finals and won the Best International Team Trophy on January 11 at a mooting competition held in Singapore by the Essex Court Chambers and the Singapore Academy of Law.
The Bruneians outperformed teams from international law firms in Singapore where judges including Justice Philip Jeyaretnam presided over the competition.
Representing Brunei Law Society were Brandon Chin Wei Chun, Sa’adatun Naadhiyah Mohd Rosli, Cedric Loo Shyh Cherng and Lim Li Chyi, guided by their mentor Kamal Shaari.
Brunei Law Society has been sending teams comprising newly qualified lawyers to participate on a yearly basis since 2015 as part of its objectives of exposing, promoting the acquisition of knowledge and enhancing the professionalism of its members.
The Brunei Law Society expressed contentment over the win, stating that, “The year 2023 certainly brought in good tidings when Brandon and Naadhiyah managed to qualify into the finals for the first time.”
