Young golfers to represent Brunei in Malaysian tournament

Young local golfers Awangku Muhammad Khair Zakwan bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad Zaki Al-Hakim and Awangku Muhammad Zaidan bin Pengiran Haji Ahmad Zaki Al-Hakim will represent Brunei Darussalam at the Sabah Golf and Country Club (SGCC) Junior Open 2022, from December 15 to 16 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.

The Brunei golfers received a boost thanks to the handover of competition t-shirts and sponsorship from NBT (Brunei) Sdn Bhd.

Awangku Muhammad Khair Zakwan said, “I would like to, on behalf of our family, thank NBT for sponsoring us. We know the competition will be very tough, but we will both do our best.” Awangku Muhammad Khair Zakwan, 14, will tee off in the ‘B’ Category U-15, while Awangku Muhammad Zaidan, 11, will compete in the ‘C’ Category U-12. They will be accompanied by their father.

Recently, both brothers competed in the Sarawak Premier Cup of the 22nd Sarawak International Junior Golf Championship 2022.

Awangku Muhammad Khair Zakwan finished in 12th place in Division ‘A’ out of 23 golfers aged 15 to 17, while Awangku Muhammad Zaidan made it to the final and finished in eighth place.

Awangku Muhammad Khair Zakwan has a handicap of 19 while Awangku Muhammad Zaidan has a handicap of 24.
