Young footballers head to Indonesia

The Brunei Darussalam U16 Team yesterday left for Indonesia to participate in the AFF U16 Boys Championship set to begin tomorrow in Yogyakarta.

In Group B, Brunei will be playing against Thailand on August 1; Timor Leste on August 4; and Laos on August 7.

The squad includes Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, Adrian Zizry, Irfan Hakim, Safwan Sazalee, Akram Waqeel, Noorhaswan Hassan, Azrin Danial, Zarif Muzaffar, Hakimee Toneey, Hadi Aiman, Daim Waqiuddin, Arshrul Irfan, Danish Firdaus, Syazul Haikal, Syafiq Hilmi, Irfan Abdullah, Ifran Hazim, Helme Dahlin, Kasyful Nurhilmi, Adrian Zikry, Hasbulqahhar Suhaimi, Adi Hallim and Dzul Ikram Yussof.

Head Coach Admirul Arbi said, “The team has trained hard and has been staying positive in preparation for the tournament. We have played three pre-season games and they did well in all of three games.

“We plan to give good performance and fight to the end. They are all playing for our beloved country Brunei Darussalam.”

Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) President Pengiran Matusin Matasan, executive council members and FABD General Secretary Mohammad Shahnon Mohd Salleh were present to send the team off at the Brunei International Airport.
