Jerudong International School (JIS) hosted their annual Year 12 Higher Education Evening at the JIS Arts Centre. The event is a key part of every JIS student’s journey to researching and selecting the most suitable higher education pathway.
The evening began with opening remarks by Executive Principal Nicholas Sheehan and Assistant Head of Senior School Dan Roberts. They both outlined the support that JIS offers students in terms of choosing a higher education pathway.
Roberts said, “At JIS, we take pride in preparing our students to explore a range of higher education opportunities, whether locally or internationally. This evening serves as a platform for families to engage in meaningful discussions about their future pathways and to uncover the wide array of possibilities awaiting them. We extend our gratitude to the representatives from various institutions and embassies for contributing to the success of this event and inspiring our students to aim high in their aspirations.”
Students and parents attended country-specific sessions that provided detailed information about tertiary education in Australia, Canada, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. Additionally, there were sessions that covered higher education opportunities across regions such as Asia and Europe. Visiting information booths, set up by representatives from the participating countries, offered attendees opportunities to explore specific universities and programmes.
Representatives from various Bruneian tertiary institutions were also in attendance.
Speakers from the Ministry of Education (MoE) were present to advise Bruneian students on scholarship and loan scheme applications.
