JPMC College of Health Sciences Sdn Bhd (JCHS) was formed as a partnership between the Jerudong Park Medical Centre Sdn Bhd and the Far Eastern University of the Philippines. The launch marked a milestone in the Sultanate’s educational landscape and showcased JCHS’ commitment towards providing world-class nursing education to Brunei’s aspiring healthcare professionals.
The institution was launched by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah in a ceremony yesterday.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health (MoH) Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the Ministry of Education Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Ang Swee Hui, Far Eastern University President Juan Miguel R Montinola and JCHS Board of Directors members were also present.
JCHS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Chung Yea Fui said, “We do not seek to compete with existing institutions. Instead, we aim to collaborate and work hand in hand with them. Our shared goal is to support the future of healthcare in our nation, as we all strive towards Brunei Vision 2035.
“Our school is brimming with potential and possibilities. We will continue to expand our programmes and offerings, constantly adapting to the evolving needs of the healthcare industry. We shall invest in state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring that our students have access to the best resources to enhance their learning experience,” she added.
“We pledge to maintain the highest standards of education, fostering an environment of innovation, research, and compassionate care. Our graduates will be equipped not only with academic knowledge but also with the values of empathy, integrity and professionalism.”
Following the ribbon cutting and plaque signing, Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham, who is also JCHS Chairman, and Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew, the JCHS Director, toured the campus which featured simulation laboratories, modern classroom settings and comprehensive online learning resources.
The college also offers Foundation in Science Certification and Bachelor of Science in Nursing programmes delivered by the college’s in-house academic team who are experts in their fields. – James Kon
