The Language and Literature Bureau (DBP) through its Language Construction and Development Division hosted a debate guidance workshop at its Sarmayuda Hall recently.
The workshop was held in conjunction with 40th National Day celebration and to prepare them for the national debate competition in conjunction with the Language Month and the 40th National Day celebration organised by the DBP.
Former Universiti Brunei Darussalam lecturer Dr Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Chuchu, with an extensive knowledge and experience in public speaking and has helped guide local participants in international debate competitions, facilitated the workshop.
She also has judged national and international debate competitions.
Thirteen participated in the morning session and 20 in the afternoon session. The participants comprised 15 to 35-year-olds from schools, sixth form centres, higher education institutions, government departments, private sector and individuals.
Head of Language Building And Development Division Hajah Sariani binti Haji Ishak presented certificates to the participants. – James Kon
