Workshop equips tourist guides with storytelling, communication skills

Fourteen certified tourist guides completed a Storytelling Workshop at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) held from October 23-25.

The workshop organised by the Tourism Development Department of the MPRT was led by Master Trainer for the Concept of Storytelling Training Programme, appointed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia Jimmy Leong Wie Kong.

The workshop delved into various aspects of crafting engaging narratives.

The workshop included an interactive session, group activities and on-site practice to equip tourist guides with fundamental skills and techniques to craft compelling stories that captivate and inspire travellers.

The workshop also focused on enhancing communication skills among tourist guides.

Equipping tourist guides with the right skillset, can contribute to heightened tourist satisfaction by delivering an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Acting Director of the Tourism Development Department Hajah Nur Fariza Munyati binti Haji Abdul Aji presented certificates to the participants.

The department intends to conduct the workshop next year for other tour guides to achieve the objective of improving their skills. – James Kon
