Thirty-one Imam and Bilal from Belait District participated in a Kaifiat workshop to enhance their knowledge on the proper conduct when leading prayers, at Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque yesterday.

The workshop, led by Mosque Affairs Officer in Belait District Haji Haslan bin Haji Shahbudin, showed participants on the introduction to proper Kaifiat, proper pronunciation when leading prayers, and proper practical showcase.

Mosque Affairs Officer at Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque and event chairman Akup bin Haji Lamat said the workshop aimed to strengthen relations between the Imam and Bilal across the district to allow for the smooth execution of their tasks.

“As Imam and Bilal for mosques and religious halls, we are an example for others to follow, especially during prayer times and as such, proper conduct in the recitation of prayers is of utmost importance,” he said.

Imam of Kampong Sungai Teraban Mosque Mohammad Hilmi bin Yakop said, “As an Imam and Bilal, there are times when we may lose sight of what is considered proper (as Imam and Bilal). But through this workshop, we are able to discuss some of the common mistakes that may occur and share our knowledge.”

At the end of the workshop, participants received certificates from Acting Director of Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri, who congratulated the participants for completing the workshop.

“I hope every participant will continue their work in upholding the proper conduct to support the community,” he said.

The acting director added that similar workshops will continue to be held in the future.
