A six-member delegation from the Guangxi Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department (HURD) of China recently held a working visit to the Ministry of Development (MoD) for bilateral discussion between the MoD and Guangxi HURD.
The delegation, headed by Director General of the Guangxi HURD Professor Dr Yang Lufeng, serves as an official visit by senior officials from Guangxi HURD comprising directors from the Personnel and Education Division, Housing Guarantee Division, Construction Market Supervision Division, Urban Construction Division and Science and Technology Division.
The delegation paid a courtesy call on Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid.
Permanent Secretary (Infrastructure, Housing and Professional) at the MoD Ir Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Zakaria, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Construction Industry and Development) at the MoD Sr Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yaakub and Acting Director General of Public Works Departments Haji Shaharuddin Khairul bin Haji Anuar were also present. The meeting led by Sr Hajah Norhayati, saw a welcoming speech by Head of Authority for Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) Ar Hajah Haslinawati binti Haji Abdul Halim.
The visit was to explore the areas facing global challenges, strengthen and encourage cooperation in high quality housing and construction through joint cooperation and understanding as a continuation of the China-ASEAN Ministerial Roundtable on Construction meeting held from September 14 to 16, 2023 in Nanning, China.
Presentations titled ‘Ministry of Development: Supporting Brunei Vision 2035 towards High Quality Living’ was delivered by Policy Coordination and Strategic Planning Division at the MoD, ‘Green initiatives through urban planning’ by the Town and Country Planning Department and ‘Sustainability Initiatives’ by the ABCi.
The meeting ended with a question and answer session and an open discussion between the two representatives.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited Kampong Lugu housing site at Mukim Sengkurong after a briefing on planning and development activities by Acting Director of Housing Development Department at the MoD Rosniza binti Dato Paduka Haji Hamdani. – James Kon
