Work together for country’s prosperity, youth told

The youth need to be equipped with the right qualities and characteristics to become future leaders possessing faith, piety and commendable morals, said Mosque Affairs Officer Pengiran Ahmad Faris Ramadhani bin Pengiran Haji Sellahhuddin.

He said this during a talk on ‘Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara’ to mark Brunei’s 40th National Day celebration at the 12th Pejuang Fajr Programme, Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque yesterday.

The talk focused on loving the country regardless of its situation, citing how in the past, the holy city of Mecca was filled with disbelief and ignorance but was still loved by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

“Every nation has its own ideas, dreams and vision towards developing the country and guaranteeing the well-being of its people,” the speaker said.

He added that all citizens, especially the youth, need to work together for the benefit of the country.

The programme, officiated by Acting Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, aimed to strengthen the role of Da’ie Youth as the youth organisation responsible for carrying out dakwah and Al’Amr bil Ma’ruf Wan Nahyu’anil Munkar through the Fajr prayer campaign while instilling togetherness and friendship.

It also acted as a medium of dakwah awareness for the youth as a whole to perform the obligatory Fajr prayers as well as encouraging them to carry out beneficial activities.

The Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI), through the Youth Religious Programme Secretariat and Da’ie Youth Volunteering Body, organised the programme which attracted 100 officers and staff of PDI and Mosque Affairs Department, members of the Youth Religious Programme, Muslimah of Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Da’ie Youth committee members, mosque congregants and the public.

The programme, live streamed on the Da’ie Youth Instagram platform, began with mass Subuh prayers followed with the recitation of Surah Al-Mulk, led by Da’ie Youth committee member Muhammad Nur ‘Alim bin Abdullah Nordin, who is also an accredited da’ie at the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB). – Lyna Mohamad
