Women play a critical role in educating children who will be future leaders in the country, said Minister of Education Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, adding that supporting the continuing education is a sacred duty.
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam announced a reshuffle in his Cabinet on June 7, including the appointment of Brunei’s first female Cabinet Minister, Datin Seri Paduka Dr Hajah Romaizah.
She was sworn into the Cabinet in the presence of His Majesty a few days after the announcement was made.
During an interview with the Bulletin, she expressed gratitude and appreciation to Allah the Almighty’s blessings and Junjung Kasih to His Majesty on her appointment.
The minister said she is confident that with consistent work, perseverance, as well as support from those at the ministry and especially in schools, they will be able to achieve the Ministry of Education’s priorities and strategies.
