The Magistrate’s Court yesterday ordered a Malaysian woman to settle a BND15,000 fine for keeping alcoholic beverages.
Leong Li Peng, 51, would have to serve 13 months’ jail in default of payment of the fine.
Senior Magistrate Azrimah binti Abdul Rahman heard that a team of customs preventive officers raided the defendant’s rented house in Kampong Kilanas at 4.20pm on Thursday, where they found 91 bottles of wine and 11 cans of beer, along with a BND100 cash believed to be proceeds from sales of the contraband.
The court ordered the alcoholic beverages to be destroyed and the cash forfeited to the state.
