The Magistrate’s Court yesterday handed an eight months’ jail sentence to an Indonesian woman who had stolen from her employer.

Prosecutor Aeny Zulizam revealed in court that Heni Purwanti, 36, was an assistant supervisor at a bakery.

Magistrate Nur Eleana binti Dato Seri Paduka Haji Hairol Arni further heard that the defendant manipulated the sale and purchase system at the bakery.

On March 13, the defendant instructed a cashier to not key in sales on three occasions when customers made purchases that day.

The defendant also made sure that there were no records of the sales in the receipt books.

She pocketed BND41 from that day’s sales.

This was unearthed the next day when the management found discrepancies in the records.

The defendant’s actions was also caught on CCTV camera at the bakery which aided the police investigations.
