A woman was sentenced to six months in jail on Saturday, for having an abortion without her husband’s knowledge.
Judge at the Intermediate Court Hajah Hazarena binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Hurairah heard that the woman was 23 weeks pregnant and didn’t tell her husband about it for personal reasons.
In March 2021, she went to a doctor and learned that she was due in July that year, but she decided to have an abortion. Nuralinda asked an acquaintance for help and obtained tablets worth BND50 that cause miscarriages during pregnancy.
