Abdul Wafiy bin Haji Ibrahim from the Office of His Majesty the Sultan’s Flight emerged as the qari champion while Farah Dibba binti Abu Kassim from Employees Trust Fund was the qariah champion in the Ministry of Finance and Economy’s (MoFE) Al-Quran Reading Competition 2023 yesterday.
Second place in the qari category went to Khairun Nadzereen bin Haji Awang Md Daud from the Treasury Department and in third place was Haji Mohamad Basren bin Haji Bintang from Bursa Brunei Darussalam Sdn Bhd.
In the qariah category, Irsyadah binti Haji Yakob from Industry and Business Ecosystem Division took second place while Aqilah binti Hassan from the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics came in third.
Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah presented the prizes to the winners.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Fiscal) Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Hajah Zety Sufina binti Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Sani was also in attendance.
The ceremony is an annual activity of the MoFE to encourage regular reading of Al-Quran while unearthing talents among staff. This year’s competition was organised by the Brunei Investment Agency. – James Kon
