Donned in themed costumes, students of the Raja Isteri Fatimah (RIF) Primary School had a fun and educational on Saturday as they celebrated the school’s annual World Book Day 2024.
Themed ‘Travel the World by Reading’, the school’s headmistress Josephine Tan Yen Nee, teachers and support staff attended the event.
Tan said, “Books are more than just pages with words but are windows to different worlds and keys to endless knowledge. We gather to recognise the value of reading and encourage everyone to develop a lifelong love for books.”
She added that she hoped the students enjoyed every moment and immersed themselves in the joy of reading as well as strengthened their love for books.
The event’s highlight was a spelling bee competition, participated by Year 2 to Year 6 students as well as the international flag-colouring activity for preschool and Year 1 pupils.
The celebration concluded with a prize presentation. Library stars were also awarded to the class that showed excellent discipline during library sessions and the top class for borrowing books. – Lyna Mohamad
