The UK is multicultural
The UK is a multicultural country and is also immensely popular with international students and a diverse range of academic staff. The UK recognises the value that diversity brings and so we want to recruit, develop, retain and motivate an increasingly diverse workforce. In fact, the UK is the second most popular destination for overseas students in the world.
We are Top 25 for international outlook (Times Higher Education, World University Rankings 2022). We have students from more than 140 countries and over a third of our students are from outside the UK. We’ve got over 100 clubs and societies at Essex, including our award-winning Bruneian society, aimed at providing a source of comfort whilst being away from home.
Brilliant financial benefits
International students can enjoy some financial benefits when choosing the UK and a degree in the UK takes less time to gain an honours degree with research aspects embedded in the degrees than in other countries. In the UK it takes three years for an undergraduate degree and then one extra to complete a postgraduate qualification.
The Essex Brunei Regional Scholarship offers £3,000 scholarships to undergraduate students who make Essex their firm choice by 15 July 2022. With Essex being located an hour away from London most students would fear the high expenses, however our cost of living is only £9,000 a year!
