We live in the capital where it used to be full of greenery, with big trees in our neighbourhood.
But in the last six to nine months, there have been a lot of tree-cutting activities by the “maintenance” crew.
Are all the tree-cutting necessary? Is there a reason for cutting down perfectly healthy trees that haven’t posed any obstruction?
I used to have a mango tree in my backyard, which the maintenance crew insisted needed to be cut down. They even went as far as to say the broken fence would not be repaired until I agreed to it. But the tree wasn’t standing in the way of anything. So what was the real issue?
Thanks to the “maintenance” works, my neighbourhood is now stripped of all trees. My question is: Are the authorities aware of these activities? Are these people cutting down trees to sell the timber for profit?
It is absurd to cut down trees when the whole world is struggling with global warming.
