Active weather conditions are expected until Friday with occasional heavy thundershowers affecting a number of areas in the country.
Wind speed may reach up to 45 kilometres per hour (kPh) during or near heavy thundershowers. Sea state over Brunei waters is generally slight, between 0.4 and 0.8 metres, said the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD), Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications yesterday.
The agency also said the Sultanate is currently near the end of the southwest monsoon period.
Weak southwesterly and strong northeasterly flow of wind will cause a moist atmospheric condition favourable to active weather conditions for the next few days.
It added that the Meteorological Observation Station at the Brunei International Airport recorded a total rainfall of 329.6 millimetres (mm) since the start of the month.
It was slightly above normal amount of rainfall for September (1991-2020) which is 235.1mm.
The agency said it will continue to monitor the weather conditions and issue weather advisories or warnings if necessary, and advised the public to take measures and precautionary action to the possibility of active weather conditions.
There is a risk of flash floods, especially in low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide, it added.
The public, road users and fishermen are advised to stay up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by the authority and to take action to ensure safety, said BDMD.
