Following the recent viral message through WhatsApp application relating to obtaining monthly welfare assistance of BND350 via https://Bantuankerajaannpercumaa.my.id/d42elq, the Community Development Department (JAPEM) said yesterday the case is now under the investigation of the Royal Brunei Police Force.
JAPEM also reminded the public to refrain from obtaining information beyond the agency’s official website and social media. The public is also advised against being involved in producing and spreading fake news and false information.
The act of spreading false information to cause public alarm is an offence under the Public Order Act which carries a penalty of a BND3,000 fine or three-year imprisonment, or both.
