MINDEF & RBAF
The Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) celebrated the new Islamic year of 1444 Hijrah at Surau Ad-Difa’ Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
It was attended by Deputy Minister of Defence Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir and Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan.
Permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, officers and staff at the MinDef and RBAF were also present.
The event was enlivened with the recitation of Al-Quran verses followed by a ‘Bersabar, Berikhtiar, Berdoa dan Bertawakkal Menghadapi Ujian: Memacu Wawasan Negara’ talk by Haji Amynoor bin Haji Mohammad Yaakob from the Mosque Affairs Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).
Similar events were also held at suraus in RBAF garrisons, bases and camps including Pulau Baru-Baru Mosque.
JEFRI BOLKIAH MOSQUE IN KAMPONG BATONG
The Secretariat of Youth Religious Programme and Youth Preachers together with the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) and Mosque Affairs Department also marked the new Islamic year of 1444 Hijrah by organising the Rehlah Ilmiyyah dan Pejuang Fajr Programme at Jefri Bolkiah Mosque in Kampong Batong, Brunei-Muara District yesterday.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the MoRA Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang was the guest of honour.
The programme aimed to produce the ideal Bruneian youth, in accordance with the teachings of Ahli Sunnah Wal-Jama’ah and Mazhab Imam Shafi’e. It was also conducted to diversify Islamic propagation methodology to youth, to build a national identity based on the Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) and to nurture a sense of love towards the mosque.
PDI and Mosque Affairs Department officers and staff, Jefri Bolkiah Mosque Takmir Committee and congregants, and youths under the Religious Youth Programme at the MoRA, Youth Groups in the Brunei-Muara District attended the programme.
The programme began with a mass Subuh prayer, followed by the recitation of Surah Al-Kahfi by Youth Preacher Chairperson Muhammad Fuad bin Matahir, a talk titled ‘The Main of Hijrah’ by Muhammad Khairul Muaz bin Haji Sibodaud from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, a morning exercise and a cleaning campaign to spruce up the mosque.
ROYAL BRUNEI AIRLINES (RB)
Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) held a similar event at its campus surau in Jalan Terunjing Lama yesterday.
RB’s Acting Chief Executive Officer Captain Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid was the guest of honour. RB Management and staff were also in attendance.
The event began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Chief of Operations Officer and Chairman of RB Welfare Committee Haji Badarudin bin Haji Bagol.
It proceeded with a ‘Hijrah Dalam Membentuk Sahsiah Diri di Dalam Perkerjaan’ talk by Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ajak from the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).
The event also saw the recitation of Zikir and Doa Selamat for RB’s staff who completed their Haj pilgrimage.
The annual ceremony was organised by RB Welfare Committee’s Religious Affairs.
