The High Commission of Pakistan in Brunei Darussalam hosted a reception to welcome officers from Special Forces of Pakistan yesterday.
The Pakistani Paratroopers are in the country on invitation from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) to participate in the ‘Solidarity Jump’ on June 1 to commemorate RBAF’s 63rd anniversary.
Following welcoming remarks from Pakistani High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Major General (Rtd) Farhat Abbas Sani, the reception showcased a virtual religious event where Patron of the Bari School System of Pakistan Major (Rtd) Fiaz Hussain briefed the attendees on the salients of his innovative concept regarding integration of learning of Al-Quran and conventional education.
During the virtual live showcase, Year 8 students from the school demonstrated their knowledge of Al-Quran.
The high commissioner, joined by the Pakistani paratroopers and Pakistani and Bruneian children, commemorated the 40th anniversary of Pakistan-Brunei diplomatic relations with a cake-cutting ceremony.
Members of the Brunei-Pakistan Friendship Association (BPFA), Pakistani businessmen, military doctors, family members and students were present, along with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, media personnel and high commission officials. – Lyna Mohamad
