PUJA Academy Sdn Bhd (PASB) organised a webinar highlights different contracts used in the construction industry recently.
Mott MacDonald NEC and Procurement Specialist Richard Patterson explored the differences between two established families of standard forms of construction contracts used internationally – New Engineering Contracts (NEC) and International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) contracts.
Patterson is a fellow at the Institution of Civil Engineers, United Kingdom, and has international procurement experience with multilateral development banks such as World Bank and Asian Development Bank and in the water sector with the FIDIC Pink and Yellow Book.
He touched on design-and-build aspects of the contracts.FIDIC is recommended by many international lenders, while NEC is also well-known internationally and follows principles of clarity, flexibility and stimulus to good management.
Some 70 participants comprising members of the Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architects (PUJA), Ministry of Development officers and contractors and professionals from the construction industry attended.
