Unity is crucial to achieving goals, and together we can make a significant difference in the community and environment, said Lion’s Club District Governor Annie Ho Chui Leng.
“Inspired by our International President Fabricio Oliveira’s theme, ‘Make Your Mark’, we aim to leave a lasting, positive impact through our service,” said Annie Ho during the joint induction and installation night on Sunday.
The event, attended by Lions International director Dato’ Yeoh Wah Chin and 192 Lions Club members from District 308-A2, brought together the Lions Clubs of Belait, Bandar Seri Begawan and Lambir Miri. The event began with a call to order by Lions Club of Belait president Phyllis Jong and a roll call by Zone 12 Chairperson Linda Chia.
Annie Ho highlighting the unity and teamwork displayed by the clubs in her speech, emphasised their importance to the Lions’ mission. She reiterated the club’s motto, ‘We Serve’, encouraging members to continue making a meaningful impact on the community.
She also introduced her theme, ‘Care for One’, which focuses on key service areas such as hunger relief, environmental preservation and youth development. She also urged members to recruit more individuals to expand their community and bring in fresh ideas.
The night included the induction of five new members across the three clubs and the installation of the board of directors for the fiscal year. Awards were also presented to recognise outstanding contributions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from each club president with the meeting adjourned by the presiding officer. – Daniel Lim
