With reference to the letter, ‘Rate movies containing obscene language’, published in the Opinion page on August 9, the Ministry of Home Affairs would like to inform the public that it is taking the matter very seriously, and will ensure that films are viewed, censored, considered suitable for the public and certified by the censorship panel before screening to safeguard the well-being of the community.
The Censorship of Films and Public Entertainment Panel has exercised its duties and responsibilities to ensure that films screened in cinemas are according to the classification guidelines and regulations.
The ministry also strongly advises that cinema exhibitors and audiences take due diligence and adhere to the classification and rating rules.
