Major water disruptions are expected to hit nine mukims in the Brunei-Muara District, starting from 7pm today until maintenance works are completed, the Public Works Department announced in a statement yesterday.
The affected areas are: Mukim Berakas ‘A’ and ‘B’, Mukim Kota Batu, Mukim Gadong ‘A’ and ‘B’, Mukim Lumapas, Mukim Pengkalan Batu, Mukim Kilanas and Mukim Kianggeh.
The disruptions are due to maintenance works at the Bukit Barun Water Treatment Plant and replacement of main pipe inlet to the Kiarong tank. The maintenance works will take approximately 12 hours. Affected areas will experience water disruption or low water pressure.
Blue water tanks are accessible for the public in designated areas of the affected mukims.
The department advised the public to use water conservatively. Those with water tanks should ensure it is full while members of the public who do not have a domestic water tanks, can store water in a covered basins or in water bottles.
After water shutdown, allow time for service reservoirs to return to a healthy level.
