Wasan U-20 youth gain experience in Selangor trip

Four under-20 (U-20) youth players accompanied by six officials from Wasan FC visited and trained with Klasiko Academy in Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia.

The duration of this specially arranged study tour was from July 22 to 27.

The players and officials also watched the FA Cup Final between Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) and Kuala Lumpur City at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Johor Bahru last weekend.

Defending champions JDT defeated KL City 2-0 to retain their FA Cup (Malaysia) title.

According to Chairman of Wasan FC Aminuddin Zain, the purpose of the trip was to gain exposure for the players to improve their playing abilities and to improve the quality of their match play.

“We hope that by giving the players the opportunity to train abroad will motivate them to continuously fine-tune their games,” said Aminuddin.

“This is also our football club’s effort to further promote promising players from among Brunei’s youth who used to be managed by coach Mohd Ikhmarol Izzat bin Haji Omar,” he said.

“This is a good example of how Wasan FC can assist the younger generation move forward… with the vast experience that coach Izzat has – apart from the AFC ‘A’ Coaching Diploma, I hope he will be able to lead our club slowly up the Brunei Super League. After all, coach Izzat is recognised by FIFA and AFC in the coaching arena,” added Aminuddin. – Fadhil Yunus
