    Warnings for errant businesses

    Three warnings were issued to two businesses for selling cooking oil above the price ceiling and not displaying prices for several items including cooking oil, powdered milk, kitchen paper towels and air fresheners.

    The violations were uncovered during a monthly inspection in the Tutong District targetting Mukim Kiudang and Mukim Keriam by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) and the Weights and Measures (SDT) Unit on Saturday.

    The SDT Unit also issued a seizure notice for using a faulty measuring device. The company is required to rectify the issue within seven working days. The faulty tool was also confiscated.

    Retailers are advised to keep up-to-date with price-controlled items and reminded to always displays price on items for sale.

    They are also urged to comply with laws and regulations ensuring a resilient and sustainable business environment by carrying out their operations properly and ethically.

    Businesses should also ensure measuring and weighing equipment are registered with the SDT Unit, said the authority.
