Warm welcome for Department of Schools contingent

Chung Hua Middle School (CHMS), Kuala Belait welcomed a contingent from the Department of Schools, Ministry of Education on Tuesday.

Acting Senior Education Officer and Head of Cluster 6 of Schools Halizawati binti Haji Kepli led the contingent and was welcomed by CHMS KB Principal Dr Chong Kui Kian.

The contingent was welcomed with a song and dance performance led by the CHMS dance troupe and primary students, followed by a tour.

Several dialogue sessions on primary and secondary-level education was also held. Among the topics discussed for the primary level dialogue session, included allowing children to explore as it will eventually transform into their educational achievements, using simple ways to teach and not over-complicating methods, and to set targets among students and teachers and make sure to follow through with the targets.

Meanwhile, the secondary level dialogue session discussed topics on building and instilling a culture within everyone in the school to ensure a sense of belonging and accountability is present in all students and teachers, to focus on students’ holistic education – not only academically, but also in sports and arts, as well as to be dedicated teachers as dedication plays a significant role in students’ learning.

The school noted that the event was a collaborative effort between CHMS KB and the Cluster 6 school leaders in line with the national aspiration in education to strengthen the quality of students’ education and teachers’ standards. – Daniel Lim
