Warm weather not an issue as 800 join race

Nearly 800 joined the Skechers 1st City Run 2023 at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, braving the warm weather in the Sultanate yesterday.

The run, organised by Skechers Brunei, was divided into four competitive categories: 12-kilometre (km) men’s open; 12km women’s open; 12km veteran men’s open and 12km veteran women’s open.

A 2.5km fun run was also held for the public.

Skechers Brunei brand ambassador Sefli Ahar said, “This was our first time organising a city run. Despite the heat, we had a big turnout.”

He also said, “We held three trial run events previously. This year we decided to organise a city run following feedback from our runners.”

“The event’s objective was to unearth talents and provide exposure to local runners,“ he added.

The run aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle through running and to enliven the Bandarku Ceria initiative, he said. – James Kon
