Embracing technological advancements, Wargamas Association yesterday launched its very own Instagram account, building its presence on the social media platform aimed as a step in the right direction for the association comprising senior citizens.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar launched Wargamas Instagram in his capacity as guest of honour during the association’s Hari Raya celebration yesterday, at the Fire and Rescue Headquarter’s multi-purpose hall.
In his speech, Wargamas Association President Haji Abu Bakar bin Haji Mohd Don said, “Under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam – through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and in cooperation with the Ministry of Development (MoD) – we are proud to have our bungalow-style headquarters.”
He expressed gratitude to the MCYS, MoD, Community Development Department, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD), Syarikat Nazmi, Board of Advisors and Wargamas Association members, and the public for their donations and contribution towards the setting up of the headquarters.
“The headquarters will allow for a better, more efficient productive work culture. Insya Allah, the headquarters will help raise the welfare of Wargamas members and senior citizens in the country,” he added.
Dato Seri Setia Ir Awang Haji Suhaimi handed over certificates of appreciation to donors, before the event continued with performances by association members.
