The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Co-Curriculum Education Department organised a walkathon at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien yesterday in conjunction with the 33rd Teacher’s Day celebration.
Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, the guest of honour, flagged off the walkathon.
The three-kilometre walkathon, participated by MoE and Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) staff and family members as well as the public, began and ended at the Taman.
The event was held to enliven this year’s Teacher’s Day celebration themed ‘Quality Teachers Driving Education Transformation’.
It aimed to strengthen relations among staff members of the two ministries as well as the public.
It also encouraged a healthy lifestyle and supported the 80 Billion Steps Together Campaign by the Ministry of Health as well as invigorating the BandarKu Ceria atmosphere.
Several side events were also held, including ‘Jejak Ta’limi’ mini treasure hunt by the Co-curriculum Education Department, a sports activities in conjunction with the MoE’s Family Day organised by the Department of Schools, and a ‘Rabah Rimpah CDD’ team activity by the Curriculum Development Department.
Permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries, acting deputy permanent secretary, heads of departments, senior officers as well as school leaders from the two ministries also attended the event. – Azlan Othman
